Basketball Players (a)

Head coach Vincent Collet has revealed a preliminary selection of 19 players for the French national team for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The list includes team veterans like Nando De Colo, as well as young players Bilal Coulibaly, Killian Hayes, Nadir Hifi, Théo Maledon, Matthew Strazel and Jaylen Hoard. The three notable absences from this list are Sylvain Francisco, Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot and Moustapha Fall, not forgetting Rodrigue Beaubois who declined selection last February.

The French roster remains to be finalized

With many uncertainties, including young players who haven't really had the chance to prove themselves at high level in recent seasons (Hayes, Maledon and Dieng in particular), newcomers to top international level (Strazel and Hifi), players looking to reestablish themselves with Les Bleus (Frank Ntilikina and Elie Okobo) as well as returning players (Andrew Albicy and Vincent Poirier) and the presence of core players (Evan Fournier, Nicolas Batum, Guerschon Yabusele and Rudy Gobert), the staff has preferred to postpone their decisions until training camp, despite its short duration. Above all, Vincent Collet and his assistants will have to adapt to the presence of Victor Wembanyama who will likely become the cornerstone of the French team from his very first senior international campaign.
