When Pelle Larsson stepped onto an NBA court for the first time in October 2024, he completed a journey as unlikely as it was inspiring. The son of Christian Larsson, a former Swedish international, the young guard from Stockholm had nothing handed to him on his path to the highest level of the game.
Developed at Skuru IK in his hometown, Larsson took a first decisive step at age 16 by joining BC Luleå and the prestigious Riksbasketgymnasiet. This move to northern Sweden allowed him to sharpen his game and shine in the Swedish Basketball League, where he quickly earned "Player of the Year" honors. But it was his bet on America that truly transformed his trajectory.
First at Utah, where he earned a starting role in his very first college season, posting remarkable three-point and free-throw percentages. Then at Arizona, where he became a key contributor over three seasons, refining his game in the competitive Pac-12. This steady progression caught the attention of NBA scouts.
Selected 44th overall by Houston and immediately traded to the Miami Heat in the 2024 NBA Draft, Larsson quickly discovered the demands of the highest level. A brief stint in the G League with the Sioux Falls Skyforce helped him fine-tune his adjustment before a swift call-up to Miami.
Alongside his rise at the club level, the Swedish guard has regularly represented his national team, from youth squads through to the FIBA World Cup 2023 qualifiers. At 23, Larsson now embodies the ambitions of a Swedish generation determined to make a lasting mark on the international stage.
