Player Profile

When Nikola Jović literally dominated the Euroleague Basketball Next Generation tournament in 2021, averaging 29.3 points and shooting 66% from the field, the European basketball world discovered an extraordinary talent. Born in England but trained in Belgrade from the age of nine, this versatile forward initially hesitated between basketball and water polo before making the choice that would change his life.

His meteoric rise took him from the Mega Basket academy to the NBA in just a few years. Selected 27th overall by Miami in 2022, Jović became the first international player recruited and retained by the Heat without American college experience since 1996. Pat Riley and his staff recognized the potential of this young man capable of playing multiple positions with remarkable court vision.

His first NBA season was a mix of learning and standout moments. Between stints in the G-League and his contribution to Miami's 2023 Finals run, Jović steadily built his experience. A one-game suspension for leaving the bench during an altercation highlighted his youthful intensity, but his 24-point performance against the Bucks in February 2024 confirmed his offensive potential.

At the same time, he established himself with the Serbian national team, winning a silver medal at the 2023 World Cup and a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. These international achievements reflect his early maturity and his ability to perform on the biggest stages. At just 21 years old, Jović already boasts an impressive résumé and rare international experience for his age — valuable assets as he continues his career with Miami.
