Player Profile

Growing up in the shadow of a Hall of Fame father can be either crushing or an extraordinary source of motivation. For Timothy Duane Hardaway Jr., it was both. Born in Alameda, California, but raised in Miami, young Tim first explored American football in high school before ultimately turning to basketball, the sport in which his father Tim Hardaway had shone as an All-Star point guard.

The father-son relationship proved as dynamic as it was complex, with Tim Sr. alternating between the roles of demanding mentor and relentless coach. This intense family dynamic forged the character of the young wing, who channeled that pressure into excellence on the courts of Miami Palmetto High School.

At the University of Michigan, Hardaway Jr. truly blossomed, making a decisive contribution to the Wolverines' historic run to the 2013 NCAA championship game. His performances confirmed his potential as a versatile scorer, capable of lighting up the three-point line as well as creating his own shot. This outstanding college campaign convinced him to enter the NBA Draft after his junior year.

Since arriving in the NBA, the 6'5" wing has established himself as a fearsome outside shooting specialist, setting three-point records with Dallas and Detroit. His international experience with Team USA at the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship had already demonstrated his ability to perform on the world stage.

Now wearing the Detroit Pistons jersey, Hardaway Jr. continues to refine his offensive game, proving that a family legacy can be a springboard to personal excellence.
