Player Profile

When Jake LaRavia signed with the Lakers in July 2025, everything came full circle: the small forward born in Pasadena returns to Southern California after a winding journey that took him from Indianapolis to NBA hardwood. This two-year, $12 million contract caps a remarkable rise for a player who turned every obstacle into a stepping stone.

Having moved to Indiana at age five or six, LaRavia built his character at Lawrence Central High School, where he earned Indiana All-Star honors and led his team to its first sectional title since 2012. But it is in the face of adversity that his true personality emerged: originally committed to SIU Edwardsville, he did not hesitate to reopen his recruitment after a coaching change and ultimately joined Indiana State.

That ability to adapt became his trademark. After two promising seasons with the Sycamores, he took another step forward at Wake Forest, averaging 14.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. His well-rounded numbers speak to a complete player capable of making an impact in every area of the game.

Selected 19th overall in the 2022 Draft by Minnesota and immediately traded to Memphis, LaRavia got his first NBA taste with the Grizzlies before continuing his development in Sacramento. Each stop enriched his experience, broadened his versatility, and sharpened his understanding of professional basketball.

Now a Laker, LaRavia brings to Los Angeles a mindset forged through constant change and the kind of versatility that makes him a valuable asset in the modern game.
