This dual excellence — academic and athletic — already revealed the meticulous character of the Texas guard, born into a family where sports run in the blood: his brother Tyler Myers plays in the NHL, while his father made his mark in college basketball.

Named a McDonald's All-American and ranked among the top five national prospects in his class of 2018, Grimes embarked on a two-chapter college career. After a first season at Kansas, he transferred to Houston, where he found his true calling. Wearing the Cougars jersey, the guard/forward orchestrated a historic campaign that carried the team all the way to the 2021 NCAA Final Four, confirming his status as a natural leader and his ability to perform in crucial moments.

Selected 25th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, Grimes quickly discovered the realities of the highest level. His time with the New York Knicks allowed him to shine during the 2022 Summer League, where he finished as the leading scorer in the championship game and earned a spot on the All-Summer League First Team. This summer performance perfectly illustrated his adaptability and competitive instincts.

Now a member of the Philadelphia 76ers following a stint in Detroit, Grimes continues to refine his versatile game, blending perimeter shooting with tactical intelligence. At 24 years old, the Texas guard has all the tools to establish himself as a long-term fixture in the league.
