At just 7 years old, Josh Green already set a world record over 500 meters, foreshadowing an extraordinary athletic destiny. Born to two semi-professional basketball players in Sydney, the young Australian prodigy excelled in every sport he tried: basketball, Australian rules football, track and field, rugby, soccer, and swimming.
The turning point in his career came in 2014 when his family moved to Phoenix, Arizona, steering him definitively toward basketball. After a standout stint at Mountain Ridge High School, Green joined the prestigious IMG Academy in Florida, where he led his team to a national title. His exceptional performance earned him MVP honors in the high school championship final and a selection among the McDonald's All-Americans in 2019.
His time at the University of Arizona confirmed his potential, earning a Pac-12 All-Freshman distinction before declaring for the NBA Draft. Selected 18th overall by the Dallas Mavericks in 2020, the wing quickly built a reputation as a versatile and athletic defender. His steady improvement led to a three-year, $41 million contract extension in 2023.
Alongside his NBA career, Green proudly represents the Australian national team. A member of the squad that claimed the first Olympic medal in Australian basketball history (bronze at Tokyo 2020), he went on to compete at the 2023 FIBA World Cup and the 2024 Paris Olympics. Traded to the Charlotte Hornets in July 2024 in a six-team deal, Green embraces this new chapter with the energy and determination that have defined his game from the very beginning.
