Player Profile

When Coby White steps onto an NBA court, he carries a special legacy on his shoulders: being the first North Carolina Tar Heels player selected in the first round by the Chicago Bulls since a certain Michael Jordan. It's a pressure that the Goldsboro native seems to handle with natural ease.

Even before arriving at Chapel Hill, White had already made North Carolina high school basketball history by becoming the all-time leading scorer with 3,573 points over four seasons at Greenfield School. That ability to find the basket led him to the U18 national team, where he finished as the top scorer at the 2018 FIBA Americas Championship, bringing home gold for the United States.

His brief stint at the University of North Carolina only confirmed his exceptional offensive talent. In a single season, White shattered the freshman scoring record previously held by Michael Jordan with 469 points, while also setting a new mark for three-pointers made by a first-year player with 82. Those performances were enough to convince the Chicago Bulls to select him 7th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Standing 6'5" with quick execution, White brings valuable offensive firepower to the Bulls. His flashy style of play and ability to create his own shot make him a versatile asset, capable of playing both point guard and shooting guard. At just 24 years old, this year-2000 native continues to refine his game to establish himself as a long-term presence in the league.
