Player Profile

When LaMelo Ball scored 92 points in a high school game in California, no one could have imagined that this historic record was merely a preview of a journey as unconventional as it was bold. The youngest son of LaVar and Tina Ball, both former college players, LaMelo grew up in an environment where basketball reigned supreme, training from an early age against older opponents alongside his brothers Lonzo and LiAngelo.

Coached by his father on AAU courts with the family team Big Ballers VXT, the young point guard burst onto the national scene at Chino Hills High School. A prodigy freshman, he helped secure a state title and a legendary national championship, but his 92-point performance will forever be etched in the record books as the second-highest single-game total in California high school history.

Rather than following the traditional college path, LaMelo Ball dared the unthinkable: leaving the United States for Lithuania, then heading to Australia with the Illawarra Hawks in the NBL. This bold decision, driven by eligibility concerns following an initial commitment to UCLA, dramatically raised his stock. From a potential second-round draft prospect, he climbed all the way to the third overall pick by the Charlotte Hornets in 2020.

Known for his flashy play and exceptional playmaking abilities, LaMelo transcends the purely athletic realm through the family reality show "Ball in the Family" and his signature shoe line with Big Baller Brand. In a family where Lonzo also shines in the NBA, LaMelo Ball perfectly embodies this new generation of players who are not afraid to rethink established norms and carve their own path to excellence.
