When Patrick Williams stepped onto the United Center floor for the first time on December 23, 2020, few imagined that this 19-year-old rookie would immediately slot into the Bulls' starting five and score 16 points on debut. Yet this ability to seize opportunities perfectly defines the Charlotte native's game as a forward.

The son of Eddie and Janie, both former college basketball players at Johnson C. Smith, Williams grew up in an environment where athletic excellence was second nature. At West Charlotte High School, he methodically refined his game over four seasons, compiling 1,787 points, 749 rebounds, and 310 assists. His performances peaked in his senior year with averages of 22.1 points and 9.0 rebounds, leading his team all the way to the 4A State Championship final.

His selection for the prestigious 2019 Jordan Brand Classic confirmed his status as a top prospect, but Williams chose patience by joining Florida State. Accepting a sixth-man role, he demonstrated rare maturity before declaring for the NBA Draft after just one college season.

Selected fourth overall by Chicago in 2020, Williams navigated the ups and downs inherent to any budding career. A wrist dislocation in October 2021 kept him off the court for several months, but his return in March 2022 revealed a sharper player. His 35-point performance against Minnesota on April 10, 2022 perfectly illustrated his offensive potential.
