Player Profile
When Jeremy Sochan steps to the free-throw line and raises his right arm in a gesture that defies all conventions, he perfectly embodies his journey: unique, bold, and resolutely international. This one-handed technique, developed on the advice of Gregg Popovich, reflects the originality of a player shaped by three continents.
Born in Oklahoma to a Polish mother who was a former professional basketball player and an American father, Sochan grew up mainly in England from the age of three. Basketball runs in his blood: his mother Aneta played at the American college level, while his grandfather and great-grandfather left their mark on Polish sport. This athletic heritage took on a tragic dimension in 2017 when his father Ryan Williams passed away in a car accident, an ordeal that forged the young man's character.
His rise began with the MK Trojans and the Solent Kestrels in England, before he established himself as MVP of the U16 Division B European Championship with Poland. A citizen of the world by necessity, he moved between continents: high school at La Lumiere in Indiana, professional training in Germany with the OrangeAcademy due to COVID-19, then a standout season at Baylor University.
Selected 9th overall by San Antonio in 2022, Sochan quickly became a cornerstone of the Spurs' rebuild. His versatility and playmaking ability allowed him to thrive in an experimental wing-point guard role, while his colorful hair and outgoing personality brought fresh energy to the Texas locker room. At just 17 years old, he had already become the youngest player ever to start for the Polish senior national team, foreshadowing a future where his talent would transcend borders.
