When Harrison Barnes announced his college choice via Skype in 2010, few imagined that this young prodigy from Ames, Iowa, would become one of the most respected forwards in the NBA. Yet the signs were already there: the number one recruit in his high school class, co-MVP of the McDonald's All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic, Barnes had led his Ames High School team to two perfect seasons and two consecutive state championships, while also earning nine advanced college credits.

At North Carolina, the 6'7" forward set ACC conference records and built a reputation as a clutch performer in critical moments. His ability to perform under pressure propelled him to the NBA after just his sophomore year, when Golden State selected him 7th overall in the 2012 draft.
