A complex three-team trade
Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report imagined a three-team trade scenario that would enable this historic return. In this proposal, Cleveland would acquire LeBron James, his son Bronny James and Adou Thiero. In return, the Lakers would get Lauri Markkanen and Jarrett Allen, while the Jazz would receive De’Andre Hunter, Max Strus, Sam Merrill, Lonzo Ball, Gabe Vincent and two Lakers draft picks.
« James brings the discipline and playoff experience this team needs after three consecutive early exits, » explains Swartz. « There’s certainly a nostalgia factor as James finishes his legendary career, but the 41-year-old can genuinely help the Cavs win a title, exactly 10 years after leading them to their first franchise championship in 2016. »

This transaction would allow the Cavaliers to field a starting five of Garland, Mitchell, Dean Wade, James and Mobley, while keeping players like Jaylon Tyson, Larry Nance Jr., Craig Porter Jr., Tyrese Proctor and Thomas Bryant.
Significant financial advantages
Beyond the sporting aspect, this trade would present major financial benefits for Cleveland. The organization would free itself from second apron restrictions and save over $100 million in salaries and luxury tax this season. James‘ $52.6 million contract expires this summer, opening the possibility of renegotiation on more favorable terms for the team.
James, who is currently averaging 24.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 7.3 assists with 52.1% shooting this month, could bring the necessary experience to a Cavaliers team (27-20) struggling to meet expectations this season. Fifth in the Eastern Conference, the Cavs are looking for the spark to return to their early-season form.
However, some analysts question the wisdom of overhauling a roster by losing five players for a single playoff run, even with a legend like LeBron James.
