Player Profile

When De'Andre Hunter hit the game-tying three-pointer in the 2019 NCAA championship game, he sealed far more than a college title for Virginia: he honored the memory of his late father and the sacrifices of his mother Priscilla, who raised him on her own in Philadelphia.

This 6'7" small forward built his character on the streets of Pennsylvania before making his mark at Friends' Central School, where he earned the Player of the Year award in Class AA. But it was at the University of Virginia that Hunter truly showcased his defensive versatility and composure in clutch moments. His pivotal shot in the NCAA championship game remains etched in the history of American college basketball.

Selected 4th overall in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Lakers before being traded to the Atlanta Hawks on draft night, Hunter quickly proved that his reputation as a versatile defender was well deserved. His ability to guard multiple positions and his remarkable work ethic, shaped by his family upbringing, have made him a valuable asset for every team that has taken him in.

Now wearing the colors of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Hunter continues to refine a game built on defensive intensity and tactical intelligence. At 26 years old, this forward with an already rich journey wears number 12 with the determination of someone who has never forgotten where he came from and who knows that every game is an opportunity to keep growing.
