The Philadelphia 76ers suffered a heavy 131-109 defeat to the Detroit Pistons Thursday night, in a game where the Pennsylvania team was without seven important players. The Pistons, Eastern Conference leaders with a 47-18 record, easily dominated the severely depleted Sixers.

MarJon Beauchamp recorded his best performance of the season with 17 points and 6 rebounds for Philadelphia, while Duncan Robinson led Detroit’s offense with 19 points. This victory allows the Pistons to secure their second consecutive win after a four-game losing streak.

A Roster Decimated by Injuries

The Sixers’ injury list was particularly impressive: Joel Embiid (right oblique strain), Tyrese Maxey (right pinky sprain), Kelly Oubre Jr. (left elbow sprain), Paul George (suspension), Adem Bona (back pain), Andre Drummond (back spasms) and Johni Broome (recovery from right knee surgery).

Facing this roster crisis, coach Nick Nurse had to insert Justin Edwards into the starting lineup and reposition Dominick Barlow at center. This makeshift configuration didn’t last long against the intensity of the Pistons, led by Jalen Duren (14 points, 10 rebounds) in the paint.

Some Individual Bright Spots Despite the Loss

Despite the difficult circumstances, some Sixers players stood out. Beauchamp, who had played only five minutes over the last 11 games, seized his opportunity by scoring 10 points in the first half on an excellent 4/6 shooting.

Cameron Payne added 15 points off the bench, confirming his role as an offensive leader during these difficult times. Justin Edwards also impressed with 12 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals, showing strong defensive activity. Jabari Walker finished his evening perfectly with flawless shooting (6/6, including 2/2 from three-point range) for 16 points.

On the Detroit side, Cade Cunningham focused on facilitating with 13 assists, while Javonte Green contributed 17 points. The Sixers (35-31) will host Brooklyn Saturday, hoping to get some players back from their crowded infirmary.
