Player Profile
When Duncan Robinson puts on his NBA jersey, few people would guess that he grew up in a small New Hampshire town of 1,000 residents and that he is the only player in Williams College history to have played in the big league. His journey defies every convention of modern basketball.
Starting out in NCAA Division III, Robinson first made his mark with the Williams Ephs, leading his team to the NCAA championship final and earning the Division III Rookie of the Year award. But the shooting forward had bigger ambitions. His transfer to the University of Michigan proved to be the turning point of his career: over three seasons, he scored more than 1,000 points and was named Big Ten Conference Sixth Man of the Year in 2018, cementing his place in program history for his three-point shooting performances.
Overlooked in the 2018 NBA Draft, Robinson signed a two-way contract with the Miami Heat and turned that opportunity into a launching pad. His long-range accuracy quickly made him one of the most feared shooters in the NBA, influencing modern offensive strategies with his ability to stretch opposing defenses.
A graduate of the prestigious Phillips Exeter Academy and Governor's Academy, Robinson embodies success through hard work and perseverance. His trade to the Detroit Pistons in 2025 opens a new chapter for this three-point specialist, whose impeccable fundamentals continue to inspire a generation of players who took unconventional paths to the top.
