The Portland Trail Blazers delivered when it mattered most, using a strong fourth-quarter surge to secure a vital 122-114 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night. The win snapped a two-game skid for Portland and provided crucial momentum in their postseason chase.

Jrue Holiday was the catalyst for Portland’s success, delivering a masterful performance with 35 points and 11 assists. Jerami Grant provided excellent support with 30 points, while Robert Williams III contributed a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds. The Trail Blazers (30-33) had struggled recently, losing three of their last four games and four of their last six entering Wednesday’s contest.

Portland’s fourth-quarter execution proves decisive

The game’s turning point came in the final nine minutes, where Portland outscored Memphis 24-19 to seal the victory. This late-game execution was crucial for a Trail Blazers team making a determined push to qualify for the postseason.

Memphis, playing the second game of a back-to-back after falling to Minnesota 117-110 on Tuesday, couldn’t match Portland’s intensity down the stretch. The Grizzlies received balanced scoring with seven players reaching double figures, led by Jaylen Wells‘ 24 points and GG Jackson‘s 20 points.

Olivier-Maxence Prosper, who signed a multi-year contract earlier in the day, contributed 17 points and nine rebounds in his eighth start for Memphis. Jahmai Mashack added 13 points off the bench, while Cam Spencer scored all 12 of his points in the first half and recorded seven rebounds and seven assists.

The Grizzlies continue to deal with significant injury issues, as Ja Morant missed his 18th straight game due to a left elbow injury. Additionally, rookie Zach Edey is out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his left ankle earlier this week.

This loss marked Memphis’ second straight defeat and their ninth loss in 12 games, highlighting their struggles without key players. Portland’s victory keeps their playoff hopes alive as they prepare to face the Houston Rockets on Friday, while Memphis will host the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.
