The Charlotte Hornets continued their remarkable surge with a commanding 118-89 victory over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night, extending their winning streak to six games and moving above .500 for the first time since October 26th. The dominant road performance showcased why this Charlotte team is beginning to draw serious attention as a potential playoff threat.
Kon Knueppel led the charge with 20 points, bouncing back from a brief shooting slump by connecting on four of his eight 3-point attempts. LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller each contributed 18 points, while Coby White added 17 points and six assists to help Charlotte improve to 32-31 on the season. The balanced offensive attack proved too much for a sluggish Celtics team playing their sixth game in nine days.
Hornets Control From Start to Finish
Charlotte never trailed in this contest, sprinting out to an 8-0 lead as Boston missed their first eight shots of the game. The Hornets’ disciplined play was evident throughout, committing only five turnovers for the entire game while forcing 16 Boston turnovers that led to 21 Charlotte points.
Despite playing on the second night of a back-to-back, the Hornets maintained their intensity and built a commanding 64-43 halftime lead. Their first-half execution was nearly flawless, turning the ball over just twice while taking advantage of Boston’s early shooting struggles that saw the Celtics dip as low as 25% from the field at one point.
The victory extended Charlotte’s road winning streak to ten games, establishing a new franchise record. Since the start of 2026, the Hornets have been nearly unstoppable with their current starting lineup of Ball, Knueppel, Miller, Miles Bridges, and Moussa Diabaté, posting a remarkable 19-2 record when this group takes the court together.
For Boston, Derrick White provided the lone bright spot with a game-high 29 points, while Jaylen Brown managed 20 points and 11 rebounds despite struggling with his shot. The Celtics shot just 38% from the field and connected on only 10 of 36 3-point attempts, seeing their three-game winning streak come to an end as they fell to 41-21 on the season.
Both teams return to action Friday, with Charlotte hosting Miami and Boston welcoming Dallas to TD Garden.
