The Phoenix Suns pulled off a resounding feat by defeating reigning champion Oklahoma City Thunder (108-105). Devin Booker was the architect of this spectacular victory, nailing the game-winning 3-pointer with only 0.7 seconds on the clock.

A breathtaking finish worthy of the greatest games

The end of the game was intensely dramatic. With 36 seconds remaining, Dillon Brooks appeared to give the Suns the decisive advantage with a magnificent stepback 3-pointer over Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (105-101). But the Thunder, true to their reputation, never gave up. After an offensive rebound and a basket by Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams tied the game with eight seconds left (105-105).

That’s when Devin Booker entered the history books. « I’ve been there before, » the Suns guard said after his game-winner. « In my imagination and during summer workouts, it always comes down to moments like this. I felt like I’d already experienced this situation. »

Booker’s shot was exceptionally difficult, made over Alex Caruso, one of the league’s best defenders, with late help from Lu Dort. It was his ninth career game-winner in the final five seconds of a game, trailing only DeMar DeRozan (11) since entering the NBA in 2015-2016.

Jordan Goodwin, Phoenix’s unsung hero

While Booker delivered the final blow with 24 points and 9 assists, it was Jordan Goodwin who was the true architect of this comeback. The backup guard had the game of his life with 26 points on 9/16 shooting, including an exceptional 8/13 from 3-point range. He particularly excelled from the same corner, systematically punishing defensive help on Booker.

The Suns built their success on impressive rebounding dominance (49 to 29), compensating for the absence of Isaiah Hartenstein on the Thunder side. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, usually dominant, was held to 25 points on 8/22 shooting, one of his most difficult performances of the season.

This sixth win in seven games confirms the Suns’ excellent form (21-14), now seventh in the West. A remarkable improvement compared to last season, when they occupied twelfth place at the same time. For the Thunder (30-6), it’s only the sixth loss of an exceptional season, but it comes against a team increasingly asserting itself as a serious contender in the playoff race.
