Saturday night against the Utah Jazz, Stephen Curry reached a new historic milestone by playing in his 1,052nd regular season game of his career. This appearance allows him, along with his father Dell Curry, to establish an NBA record: the highest number of games played by a father-son duo in league history.

An Exceptional Family Legacy Spanning Generations

With 2,135 games played in total, the Currys now surpass the previous record held by Dolph Schayes and his son Danny, who had totaled 2,134 games. Dell Curry had played 1,083 games between 1986 and 2002, playing successively for the Utah Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto Raptors.

Stephen, entering his 17th season with the same franchise that drafted him in 2009, is gradually approaching his father’s total. In a few games, the Warriors superstar will surpass Dell in individual appearances.

The 3-Point Shooting Dynasty Continues

The Currys have become synonymous with long-range shooting excellence across multiple decades. Dell had established his reputation as one of the most respected 3-point snipers of his era, finishing his career with 1,245 three-pointers made, which ranked him 10th all-time at the time of his retirement in 2002.

Stephen has far surpassed his father’s legacy by becoming the best 3-point shooter of all time with 4,177 makes, about 1,000 more than James Harden, ranked second. The family excellence doesn’t stop there: Seth Curry, with 43.3% career 3-point accuracy and 947 three-pointers made in over 500 games, is about to become the third family member to reach the 1,000 three-pointer milestone.

« It’s cool. It’s the longevity and the family business in this game. If you add my brother’s points, it’s even better, so it’s really special for the Curry family as a whole. Knowing that he (Dell) played for 16 years, and I’m in my 17th year still trying to do it. A dream come true, to be honest, » said Stephen Curry.

This historic performance comes as the Warriors are going through a difficult period at the start of the 2025-2026 season, holding 8th place in the Western Conference with a record of 19 wins and 17 losses, with Curry having missed several games due to ankle problems.
