Quinten Post nearly gave it all up before becoming the first Dutch player drafted in the NBA in fifteen years. At 13, this Amsterdam native quit basketball for a year and a half, worn out by training sessions with Apollo Amsterdam. His return would change his life: he became the starting center on the national under-18 championship team in 2018, alongside future NBA player Jesse Edwards.
Nicknamed "The Postman" for his ability to deliver in the paint, Post now stands 7 feet tall and plays both the power forward and center positions. After considering a professional career in Spain or Serbia, he chose American college basketball. First at Mississippi State, where playing time was scarce, then at Boston College where he truly broke out. In his final season, he became his team's leading scorer and collected multiple conference honors.
The Golden State Warriors selected him 52nd overall in the 2024 Draft, making him the first Dutch player drafted since 2009. After a brief administrative stint in Portland, he rejoined Golden State and signed a standard NBA contract. His debut in December 2024 marked the culmination of a journey full of obstacles, capped by a 20-point performance in January 2025, his personal best.
Already pre-selected for the Dutch national team during EuroBasket 2022, Post embodies perseverance in the face of adversity. His late growth spurt and impressive development at every stage of his career reflect a determination that could well make him a lasting cornerstone of the Warriors.
