Paolo Banchero delivered a standout performance with 31 points to lead the Orlando Magic to a convincing 123-107 win over the Detroit Pistons on Monday night. Desmond Bane provided excellent support for the Italian-American star, adding 25 points in the home victory.

Jalen Suggs also contributed significantly with a double-double of 12 points and 12 assists, along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. This collective effort helps the Magic win their fourth game in the last five outings, keeping their playoff hopes alive in a highly competitive Eastern Conference.

Detroit Short-Handed, Orlando Takes Advantage

The Pistons, who had already clinched first place in the Eastern Conference last Saturday, played without eight key members of their roster. Tobias Harris, Duncan Robinson, Caris LeVert, and most notably star Cade Cunningham, out for his eleventh consecutive game due to a pneumothorax, were all absent.

Despite these absences, Detroit could rely on Jalen Duren and Daniss Jenkins, who each scored 18 points, as well as Kevin Huerter and Javonte Green, who each added 17 points. However, the Pistons’ 21 turnovers significantly hurt their chances of winning.

Orlando, currently fighting for a playoff spot in a tight middle of the standings, still hopes to finish in sixth place. With three games left in the regular season, the Magic could however drop as low as tenth depending on upcoming results.

The Florida team played without Franz Wagner, who was rested due to an ankle injury, but welcomed back Anthony Black after a 15-game absence. The guard scored 14 points in just 15 minutes, making a valuable contribution.

The Magic took a decisive lead in the second quarter, with two three-pointers from Bane in 16 seconds. Orlando then controlled the game, extending the lead to 26 points late in the third quarter thanks in part to a 12-0 run capped by Banchero. Although Detroit attempted a comeback late in the game, cutting the deficit to three points with 4:07 remaining, Orlando held on for the win.
