Player Profile
Four universities, one goal: reaching the NBA. Daniss Jenkins' journey perfectly illustrates the perseverance of a point guard who never gave up on his dream despite a path full of obstacles.
Named offensive MVP of his district at Hillcrest High School in Dallas, Jenkins began his college career at Pacific, earning a spot on the West Coast Conference All-Freshman team. But this was just the beginning of an odyssey that would take him to Odessa College, then to Iona, where he truly broke out. In 2023, he won the MAAC Tournament MVP award and was named to the All-District Second Team, confirming his status as a complete point guard.
His final season at St. John's as a graduate student revealed the full extent of his talent. The undisputed leader of the Red Storm in scoring and assists, he averaged 14.9 points, 5.4 assists, and 1.6 steals per game with remarkable efficiency. His defensive versatility and leadership qualities made him a valuable player on both ends of the floor.
Going undrafted in the 2024 NBA Draft, Jenkins did not lose heart and signed a two-way contract with the Detroit Pistons. His Summer League debut paved the way for a gradual integration between the NBA and the G League with the Motor City Cruise. Wearing number 24, this 23-year-old point guard embodies the determination of a player who has turned every step of his unconventional college journey into a springboard toward his ultimate goal.
