Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball carry Charlotte on their backs

The Hornets continued their excellent momentum with a 110-107 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, securing their 10th win in 11 games. An even more remarkable performance considering the team was without two of its starters, Miles Bridges and Moussa Diabate, suspended four games by the NBA for their involvement in the brawl against Detroit.

Brandon Miller delivered an exceptional performance with 31 points on 10/26 shooting and 9 rebounds, making multiple spectacular plays. The guard notably crossed up Zaccharie Risacher on a 3-point stepback in the first half, then threw down an alley-oop from LaMelo Ball over the French forward, before posterizing Onyeka Okongwu in the third quarter.

LaMelo Ball was equally impressive with 24 points and 7 made 3-pointers, orchestrating the Hornets offense with 6 assists. Rookie Kon Knueppel also contributed with 18 points thanks to 4 made threes, starting the game perfectly with a 4/4 performance from deep.

Charlotte dominated the first half thanks to exceptional shooting from beyond the arc, building a lead of up to 17 points. The Hornets finished the game with 19 made 3-pointers on 51 attempts, showcasing their offensive philosophy based on long-range shooting.

A thrilling finish that goes to the Hornets

Despite their comfortable lead, the Hornets struggled down the stretch. Atlanta, led by Dyson Daniels (21 points) and Jalen Johnson (19 points, 13 rebounds, 9 assists), cut it to one point with 1 minute 5 seconds remaining on a Johnson basket. The Hawks had an opportunity to take the lead but Onyeka Okongwu lost the ball on a fast break.

Kon Knueppel sealed the victory by converting two free throws with 19.4 seconds remaining, making the score 110-107. Atlanta had one last chance to force overtime, but Okongwu missed his 3-point attempt under defensive pressure from Brandon Miller.

This victory allows the Hornets to pass Atlanta in the Eastern Conference standings. Charlotte now has a record of 26 wins and 29 losses, ahead of the Hawks (26-30) in 9th place. For Atlanta, this is a third consecutive loss that complicates their playoff aspirations.
