Player Profile

When Ivica Zubac scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds with a perfect 100% shooting in under 30 minutes, he made NBA history as the first player of the shot-clock era to achieve such a feat. This performance on August 6, 2020, against Dallas perfectly illustrates the Croatian center's meteoric rise.

Born in Mostar but raised in Čitluk near the Croatian border, Zubac took his first basketball steps in the youth program of the prestigious KK Cibona. After a brief stint at Zrinjevac in 2013-14, he joined Cibona's first team, competing in the Croatian championship and the ABA League. However, the club's financial difficulties forced him to move to Mega Leks in Serbia in early 2016.

This Balkan journey proved worthwhile: a few months later, the Lakers selected him 32nd overall in the 2016 NBA Draft. His debut on November 2, 2016, marked the beginning of a steady progression, highlighted by early double-doubles and developmental stints in the G League.

The real turning point came in 2019 with his trade to the Clippers. Having become a cornerstone of the Los Angeles frontcourt, Zubac helped write franchise history by leading the team to its first Western Conference Finals in 2021. His ability to dominate the paint and his consistency have made him an indispensable part of the Clippers' project, confirming that the bet placed on this Balkan giant was the right one.
