The Atlanta Hawks continue their triumphant march with an 11th consecutive victory against the Dallas Mavericks (135-120). This game will be remembered for the incredible feat by Jonathan Kuminga, who hit the 6th longest basket in NBA history since the play-by-play era.

At the buzzer ending the third quarter, Kuminga sent what appeared to be a lob pass toward Jock Landale, but the ball ended up going into the opponent’s basket. Measured at 75 feet, this shot becomes the longest in Hawks franchise history, erasing Jason Terry’s record set in 2000.

A collective domination led by CJ McCollum

CJ McCollum led the Hawks’ offense with 24 points, followed by Nickeil Alexander-Walker (22 points). Dyson Daniels added 19 points on an excellent 9/13 shooting, while Jalen Johnson came close to a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists.

The game started perfectly for Atlanta thanks to Onyeka Okongwu, who scored the first 10 points of the game. The Hawks were never behind and already led by 11 points at halftime (67-56). In the third quarter, Atlanta’s defensive intensity made the difference, forcing 18 turnovers from the Mavericks.

For Dallas, Daniel Gafford delivered his best performance of the season with 24 points on 9/10 shooting, accompanied by P.J. Washington (23 points) and Cooper Flagg (17 points). Despite these individual efforts, the Mavericks suffered their 11th loss in 13 games and show a disastrous record of 23-47.

With this success, the Hawks (38-31) tie the Miami Heat for 7th place in the Eastern Conference and are now just half a game behind the Orlando Magic, 6th and last team directly qualified for the playoffs. This 11-game winning streak represents the 4th longest in franchise history and the first since the record streak of 19 straight wins in 2014-2015.
