The Golden State Warriors pulled off a memorable comeback Thursday night in Phoenix, overturning a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win 101-97 against the Suns. Pat Spencer shined with a career-high 20 points, while Gui Santos added 18 points for a team missing several starters.
A thrilling finish decided in the final seconds
The game was decided in the final moments. Trailing 97-99 with seconds remaining, the Suns had an opportunity to retake the lead, but Dillon Brooks missed a crucial 3-pointer. Gary Payton II grabbed the rebound for Golden State before Moses Moody passed to De’Anthony Melton for a decisive buzzer-beater.

Phoenix appeared to be in control after taking an 82-76 lead at the end of the third quarter, a period during which they held the Warriors to just 17 points. The Suns even extended their lead to 90-76 early in the final quarter with two consecutive 3-pointers from Collin Gillespie.
But the Warriors didn’t give up. They methodically chipped away at the deficit before Melton tied the game at 97 with 55.8 seconds remaining. Santos then gave Golden State the lead for good on a fast break (99-97) with 28.7 seconds left.
Depleted rosters on both sides
Brooks finished as the Suns‘ leading scorer with 24 points, followed by Grayson Allen with 21 points. Phoenix made just six field goals in the fourth quarter for only 15 points, going scoreless after Oso Ighodaro‘s dunk with 3:55 remaining.
Allen injured his right knee shortly after that play and didn’t return. The Suns were already without Devin Booker (ankle) and Jalen Green (hamstring/hip). On the Warriors side, Stephen Curry (knee) was absent, as was new acquisition Kristaps Porzingis, obtained from the Hawks but not yet integrated into the team.
At halftime, Golden State led 59-55 after attempting 37 3-pointers and making 15. Spencer had already scored 15 points on five made 3-pointers. Additionally, the Warriors traded Trayce Jackson-Davis to the Raptors for a second-round pick.
