Player Profile
Two skull fractures before the age of seven could have shattered any child's dreams, but Trayce Jackson-Davis turned those early hardships into a driving force toward the top of basketball.
Nicknamed "TJD", this son of former NBA player Dale Davis faced a path full of obstacles from a very young age. At four years old, a fall at home fractured his skull, leaving scars above both ears. Two years later, an accident with a golf club required the insertion of a titanium screw after another fracture to his cheekbone and eye socket. These injuries could have been discouraging, but they forged the character of a future champion.
His teenage years marked a decisive turning point. Cut from the junior varsity team in middle school, a growth spurt before high school completely changed his trajectory. At Center Grove High School, he gradually became a national star, earning the coveted McDonald's All-American status. This spectacular transformation perfectly illustrates his ability to overcome obstacles.
Four seasons at Indiana University confirmed his exceptional potential. TJD established himself as one of the most productive players in the program's history and in the Big Ten Conference, while also contributing to the American gold medal at the 2018 FIBA Americas U18 Championship.
Selected 57th in the 2023 NBA Draft by Washington and immediately traded to the Golden State Warriors, the big man quickly demonstrated his qualities on both ends of the floor. His high field goal percentage and defensive abilities, particularly as a shot blocker, marked his early NBA steps, culminating in a 20-point performance against Houston.
His temporary return to the G League with Santa Cruz in 2025 reflects his determination to maximize his playing time and continue his steady development.
