Austin Reaves delivered an exceptional performance Thursday night in Los Angeles, scoring 35 points in just 25 minutes of play to give the Lakers a valuable 119-115 victory against the Philadelphia 76ers. This remarkable performance comes in the context of the player’s return from injury, as he had been absent for five and a half weeks due to a calf injury.
A spectacular offensive performance despite health restrictions
Coming off the bench with a minutes restriction, Reaves was phenomenal with an impressive 12 of 17 from the field, including five 3-pointers. This performance comes in his second game back after his long absence, demonstrating his ability to quickly return to optimal form.

LeBron James contributed 17 points and 10 assists, helping the Lakers end a five-game winning streak by the 76ers. This victory also marks their first home game after a long eight-game road trip.
A game marked by Luka Doncic’s injury
The evening took a concerning turn when Luka Doncic, the NBA’s leading scorer this season, left the court limping with 3:03 remaining in the first half. Apparently injured in his left leg moments earlier, he did not return in the second half, with the Lakers citing left leg soreness.
This injury comes just as the Reaves-Doncic-James trio was finally beginning to play together, with this game being only their tenth together this season, as all three have dealt with significant injuries.

A thrilling finish
Despite holding a 16-point lead at their largest in the second half and leading 110-94 with four minutes remaining, the Lakers had to withstand a comeback by the 76ers. Joel Embiid (35 points) and Tyrese Maxey (26 points, 13 assists) led Philadelphia’s offensive charge, cutting the deficit to 116-113 thanks in part to a 3-pointer by rookie VJ Edgecombe after a steal from LeBron James with 36 seconds remaining.
Finally, Maxi Kleber found Rui Hachimura for a decisive dunk with 12 seconds remaining, allowing the Lakers to secure their fifth win in seven games. The Lakers took control for good with back-to-back 3-pointers by Reaves at the start of the fourth quarter, part of a 21-6 run.
