The Philadelphia 76ers got back to winning ways Sunday night in Minneapolis, defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves decisively 135-108. This remarkable collective performance, punctuated by 21 successful 3-pointers, allows the Sixers to end a four-game losing streak, all by double-digit margins.
Maxey brilliant despite Embiid’s absence
Tyrese Maxey once again carried his team on his shoulders with an exceptional performance of 39 points on 16/28 shooting, accompanied by 8 assists. The 76ers guard hit four 3-pointers in this offensive display that confirms his status as team leader.

VJ Edgecombe also shined with a personal record of six 3-pointers for a total of 24 points. Quentin Grimes (19 points, 5 3-pointers, 7 assists) and Kelly Oubre Jr (18 points, 4 steals) completed this remarkable collective performance.
Philadelphia had to do without Joel Embiid, absent for the third consecutive game since the All-Star break due to right shin soreness. The star center had already missed three of the last five games before the break due to right knee soreness.
Minnesota without its big men
For the Timberwolves, this defeat ends a three-game winning streak. Anthony Edwards scored 28 points, including 19 in the first half, supported by Jaden McDaniels (19 points) and Julius Randle (18 points).
Minnesota played without its two interior pillars: Naz Reid (shoulder soreness) was out, while Rudy Gobert served a one-game suspension for accumulation of flagrant fouls. The four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year will now receive two-game suspensions for each additional flagrant foul this season.
Joan Beringer, selected 17th in the 2025 draft, made his first career start but played only five minutes in the first half (2 points, 3 fouls). The 76ers will continue their road trip Tuesday at Indiana, while Minnesota will travel to Portland.
