Trey Murphy III was the main architect of the New Orleans Pelicans’ victory over the LA Clippers (105-99) Thursday night. With his 27 points, the forward helped his team extend its home winning streak to seven consecutive games, confirming the Louisiana franchise’s excellent momentum on its home court.

A perfect sweep against the Clippers

The Pelicans completed a perfect sweep against the Clippers by winning this second consecutive home matchup, after their 124-109 victory Wednesday. Saddiq Bey provided a valuable contribution with 20 points, while Zion Williamson added 15 points to his team’s total.

Dejounte Murray was absent for rest as part of his gradual return following his Achilles tendon rupture. The point guard had shined the night before with 17 points and 11 assists, a season high, in his ninth game since returning last month.

A decisive finish orchestrated by Murphy

For the Clippers, Derrick Jones Jr. led the attack with 22 points, supported by John Collins (18 points) and Bogdan Bogdanovic (16 points). Despite these individual performances, Los Angeles suffered its fourth consecutive loss. Kawhi Leonard was absent after scoring 25 points and grabbing eight rebounds in his return from a left ankle injury.

The turning point of the game came in the final minutes. Trailing 94-91 with 5:53 remaining after a Collins basket, the Pelicans reversed the situation thanks to a Williamson layup and a crucial 3-pointer from Murphy. This sequence launched a decisive 14-5 run that sealed New Orleans’ victory.

This seventh consecutive home victory confirms that the Pelicans have made their arena a true fortress this season. The Clippers will attempt to stop their losing streak Saturday night in Dallas, while New Orleans will host Cleveland continuing its impressive home streak.
