Transfer: François Wibaut signs with Élan Béarnais for three seasons

Élan Béarnais continues to shape its roster for the 2025-2026 season. The Béarn club has just signed François Wibaut (1.98m, born 2005), a young French wing coming off his first professional season with Rouen in Pro B. He has committed to Pau-Lacq-Orthez for three seasons.
A young, hardworking and ambitious profile
After starting in Liévin’s youth teams, François Wibaut continued his development at ASVEL, where he won the U17 French Cup, U18 and Espoirs national championships. During the 2022-2023 season, he split his time between ASVEL’s Espoirs team and LyonSO in Nationale 1, while regularly training with the pros, making two appearances in Betclic ELITE.

In his first full professional season, the northerner played for Rouen in Pro B. In 38 games, he averaged 5.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1 assist in 13 minutes. He scored over 10 points five times, with a career-high 14 points against Nantes. He had two years left on his contract with RMB but activated an exit clause.
« François is a talented and versatile young player. He has a real thirst for learning, great work ethic and very interesting room for improvement, » highlights Mickaël Hay in the press release, who will be able to count on him starting with the U20 Euro preparation with the French national team.
Pau aims for balance between youth and experience
Élan Béarnais, which is starting a new phase of its reconstruction, clearly shows its intentions by combining youth and ambition. « This signing reflects the club’s desire to build a roster mixing youth, experience and ambition, » the club states.
Mickaël Hay, whose work is still ongoing, sees Wibaut as a coherent piece in his project: « He’s already a competitive player who fits into the playing philosophy we want to implement here in Pau. »
With François Wibaut, Élan now has five locally trained players (JFL) under contract for next season, and continues to build a structured roster around clear foundations.
