SIG Strasbourg continues building its roster under new coach Jānis Gailītis. After four seasons with Saint-Quentin, William Pfister (2.05m, 30 years old) is making a return to his roots by signing a three-year deal with the Alsatian club. This recruitment aligns with the club’s desire to build a strong identity around local and combative players.

A defensive pillar to embody Strasbourg’s DNA

After a long journey that took him from the youth academies of Bourg-en-Bresse and Antibes, to the United States, through NM1 with Montbrison, GET Vosges and Caen Basket Calvados, and finally to the successful Saint-Quentin campaign, William Pfister is ready for a new challenge in Strasbourg. The city native returns home with solid experience and a reputation as a hard-working player.

Having played in the NCAA between 2014 and 2018, notably at Florida Atlantic, he had already made his mark with his intensity and strong defensive abilities. Back in France, he climbed the ranks to become one of the key architects of SQBB’s promotion to Betclic ELITE, perfectly embodying the values of fighting spirit and teamwork.

A signing that fits SIG’s new strategy

Commenting on this recruitment, Sports Director Nicolas Alberani emphasizes the importance of building a local foundation:

« William already knows the city and the club. Along with JB Maille, he will be one of the pillars for our future seasons. […] He hates losing, is solid as a rock and can help us on both ends of the floor. »

This arrival coincides with the appointment of Latvian coach Jānis Gailītis, who will have at his disposal a reliable, committed player perfectly aligned with the club’s ambitions.

« Immense joy to return here »

For his part, William Pfister showed enthusiasm about returning to his roots:

« When Strasbourg approached me, it felt natural to come here. […] It’s a pride for me to come play for this great club in Strasbourg. »

A long-awaited return and a win-win bet for SIG, who adds to its roster a player emblematic of passionate and intense basketball.
