Eight years in the Mega system before taking command
After three years marked by Marko Barać’s work, Mega Basket has announced a major change on its bench. Vule Avdalović, former Serbian point guard and Pro A playoff finalist with Cholet Basket in 2011, becomes the head coach of the Belgrade-based club. A smooth handover, officially announced at the Dejan Milojević training center, symbolizing the continuity advocated by the BeoBasket agency structure.
« I’m very happy, I think this is the right time. I’ve waited for this opportunity and I’m eager for the season to start, » Avdalović said during his introduction. « It’s not a new atmosphere for me, I’ve already coached many players from the future roster during the last three years at OKK Belgrade. »
A coach from within
Former high-level player who represented Serbia and Montenegro in several international competitions (2004 Olympics, 2006 World Cup), Vule Avdalović quickly began his coaching transition. He was an assistant for five years at Mega before taking charge of OKK Belgrade, a partner club, for three seasons.
« He’s been in Mega’s system for eight years, always impeccable, » commented GM Goran Ćakić. « He perfectly understands our operations. »
Another familiar face to accompany this transition
Alongside Avdalović’s arrival, Mega Basket also announced the departure of iconic team manager Novica Veličković. The former Partizan power forward is replaced by another well-known former player in Serbia, Aleksandar Rašić. This continuity in profiles allows Mega to remain faithful to its internal development project.
