The Portland Trail Blazers took advantage of the Jazz’s numerous absences to win handily 135-119 in Salt Lake City. This victory allows the Blazers (27-29) to secure their fourth win in five games, in a contest marked by excellent individual performances from Jrue Holiday and Donovan Clingan.
Holiday returns to his best offensive form
Jrue Holiday recorded his best offensive performance of the season with 31 points, complemented by 9 rebounds and 7 assists. The Blazers veteran was his team’s undisputed leader, particularly in crucial moments of the game.
Donovan Clingan also shined with a double-double of 23 points and 18 rebounds, accompanied by 7 assists (career high), 3 blocks. The young center dominated the paint on both ends of the floor and was one of the main architects of Portland’s success.

Jerami Grant added 18 points to the collective effort, while Scoot Henderson contributed 15 points in his fourth game of the season. The Blazers were able to compensate for the absences of their two top scorers, Deni Avdija (back) and Shaedon Sharpe (calf).
Utah handicapped by numerous absences
The Jazz (18-38) played under difficult conditions, deprived of several key players. Jaren Jackson Jr., recently acquired from Memphis, could not play after a post-trade medical examination revealed a benign growth on his left knee requiring surgery next week.
Lauri Markkanen was resting for the second consecutive game, while Keyonte George was unavailable due to a right ankle sprain. The situation became even more complicated when Vince Williams Jr. was ejected for two technical fouls before halftime, and Oscar Tshiebwe had to receive stitches above his eye after an elbow in the first quarter.
Despite these difficulties, Utah showed character thanks to Brice Sensabaugh (28 points), Ace Bailey, Kyle Filipowski and Isaiah Collier (15 points each). Blake Hinson, a two-way contract player in his first NBA game, scored 11 points and hit a 3-pointer to bring the Jazz back to 111-108, before Portland responded with an 11-2 run capped by a Holiday basket.
The Trail Blazers will host Denver on February 20, while Utah will travel to Memphis on the same date.
