Paris Basketball found their smile again in EuroLeague action with an impressive road victory over FC Barcelona, 85-74. A top-tier performance for the capital club, while ASVEL Villeurbanne continues to struggle on the European stage following a convincing defeat in Valencia.
In a context where hopes of reaching the EuroLeague playoffs had vanished, Paris Basketball had little left to play for except pride and the desire to avoid last place. The trip to Palau Blaugrana, facing a Barcelona side still competing for the Top 6, had all the makings of a trap game.

Paris takes control in Catalonia
Sebastien Herrera launched his team with the first five points, quickly supported by Nadir Hifi off the bench. Jared Rhoden validated Paris’s excellent start with an authoritative dunk (11-5). Despite a 7-0 Catalan run after a timeout, the capital’s players closed the first quarter ahead (21-18), thanks to solid defense and better rebounding presence.
While offenses took over in the second act, Paris paid for an abysmal rebounding differential (14 to 2) during the period. Led by Dario Brizuela, Barcelona went on a 9-0 run to take the lead. However, a long-range shot from Nadir Hifi and several Catalan turnovers helped limit the damage at halftime (39-43).
After the break, Paris Basketball raised their level. Two 3-points from Jared Rhoden (15 points) and Justin Robinson (18 points) reignited the machine, followed by a crucial 8-0 run (52-47). Jeremy Morgan then extended the lead in transition (61-52).

Facing an uninspired Barcelona, Paris continued their festival. Another Robinson shot at the third-quarter buzzer extended the lead to 12 points (67-55), before Rhoden pushed the gap to +15 (73-58). Despite a timid local reaction in crunch time, Nadir Hifi (21 points) sealed the game’s fate with a decisive long-distance shot. A ninth European victory for Paris, still leaving the wooden spoon to ASVEL.
ASVEL struggles continue in Valencia
Meanwhile, ASVEL couldn’t resist Valencia Basket (82-67). The Spanish side, solid collectively, quickly took control of the encounter to secure their 18th victory of the EuroLeague season.
Jean Montero and Darius Thompson led Valencia’s attack (14 points each), well supported by Brancou Badio and Kameron Taylor (10 points each). On the Villeurbanne side, Edwin Jackson, returning to his adopted Spain, was the main offensive weapon with 20 points, while Paul Eboua added 10 points. Too little to hope to compete at Roig Arena.
In the standings, ASVEL remains firmly attached to last place, while Paris gives themselves some breathing room thanks to this prestigious success in Catalonia.
