Player Profile

Three consecutive times named Player of the Year by the Toledo Blade in high school – a record that speaks volumes about the determination of Vincent Terrill Williams Jr. Yet it is paradoxically through adversity that this Memphis guard forged his most remarkable character.

Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Williams Jr. grew up in a family where athletic excellence runs in the blood. His brother Karlos had a distinguished NFL career with the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers, but Vincent chose the hardwood over the football field. A decision that would be severely tested during his college years at VCU.

Two major labrum tears in his shoulder and other injuries would have crushed the dreams of many players. Not those of Williams Jr. Every setback became an opportunity for him to come back stronger, to refine his mental game as much as his physical one. This resilience impressed those watching the Rams, who saw in him far more than a simple contributor – a quiet leader capable of turning pain into motivation.

His time with the Grizzlies confirmed this remarkable ability to adapt. At 6'4", Williams Jr. compensates with a basketball IQ developed during those difficult years at VCU. His injuries taught him to read the game differently, to anticipate rather than react.

Today, the player who tied a high school record continues to write his NBA story with the same philosophy: turning every obstacle into a stepping stone toward excellence.
