Player Profile

When Gary Harris steps onto NBA courts, he carries on a family legacy that transcends borders. His mother, Joy Holmes, played in the WNBA and in European leagues, passing on to her son a passion for basketball that runs in their blood.

Already at Hamilton Southeastern High School in Indiana, Harris stood out for his exceptional versatility. Able to excel both on the basketball court and as a wide receiver in football, he collected league championship titles while setting a school record with 1,540 career points scored. This adaptability foreshadowed the complete player he would become.

Recognized as one of the best guards in the country at the high school level, Harris joined Michigan State University in 2011. After two college seasons, he made the leap to the professional level by being selected 19th overall in the 2014 NBA Draft, before being immediately traded to the Denver Nuggets on draft night.

A specialist in perimeter defense and tight man-to-man coverage, he has established himself as a valuable player capable of neutralizing the best opposing guards. His versatility allows him to adapt to different systems and roles depending on his team's needs.

Now wearing the colors of the Orlando Magic, Harris continues to demonstrate that defensive excellence and tactical intelligence remain timeless assets in modern basketball.
