Player Profile

Growing up in a military family teaches you to adapt quickly. John Collins turned that life lesson into his greatest strength on the court. From the Virgin Islands to Guam and Turkey, the American big man built his resilience through the constant relocations required by his parents' naval and air force careers.

At Cardinal Newman High School in Florida, Collins channeled that adaptability into basketball excellence. Named the Class 4A Player of the Year in his final season, he laid the groundwork for a meteoric rise that continued at Wake Forest. In just two college seasons, he shattered several records before declaring for the 2017 NBA Draft.

Selected 19th overall by Atlanta, Collins made an immediate impression at Summer League, earning a spot on the First Team. His scoring and rebounding combination quickly became a major asset for the Hawks. However, 2019 brought a difficult turning point: a 25-game suspension for violating the NBA's anti-drug policy after testing positive for ibutamoren. Collins responded in the best possible way, coming back stronger and proving his maturity.

Off the court, this passionate Chelsea FC fan devotes his free time to charitable causes, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Special Olympics. Now with the Los Angeles Clippers, Collins continues to write his story with the same determination that has always defined him, turning every obstacle into a stepping stone toward new heights.
