Offensive explosion sets multiple records
Paris Basketball delivered a spectacular farewell performance at home, crushing Maccabi Tel-Aviv 113-80 to register the largest victory margin in the club’s EuroLeague history. The 33-point triumph marks the second time in just nine days that head coach Julius Thomas has guided his team to a record-breaking win, following their impressive 83-62 victory in Bologna the previous week.
The German coach, who has now overseen just four EuroLeague games compared to Tiago Splitter’s 38 and Francesco Tabellini’s 33, has remarkably delivered both of Paris Basketball‘s most dominant European performances. The previous club record stood at an 18-point margin, which was first surpassed in Bologna before being shattered again against the Israeli visitors.
Offensive explosion sets multiple records
Paris Basketball exploded out of the gates with 41 points in the opening quarter, immediately putting Maccabi Tel-Aviv on the back foot. Justin Robinson led the offensive charge with 25 points on 5/9 shooting and 6 assists in just 19 minutes of action, as the French side dismantled their opponents’ defense with ruthless efficiency.
The victory represented a night of records for the capital club. Beyond the largest winning margin, Paris also registered their highest point total (113) and best team evaluation (138) in EuroLeague competition. « We wanted to show good basketball to our supporters and I’m sure we did that, » said Julius Thomas, who has now won three of his four EuroLeague games and five of six matches across all competitions.
The comprehensive victory secured Paris Basketball‘s 15th win of the European season, putting pressure on Partizan Belgrade in the race for 15th place. Before concluding their continental campaign in Kaunas next week, the team can take satisfaction in delivering a spectacular finale for their home supporters.
« It was very important for us to finish the EuroLeague season well at home, » reflected Nadir Hifi, who played limited minutes in preparation for Saturday’s crucial domestic clash against SIG Strasbourg. « We showed a better face than Tuesday in Belgrade. We corrected many things and I’m very happy about that. We beat Paris’s offensive record in EuroLeague history, which is cool. »
Monaco benefits from Paris dominance
The emphatic victory also carries significant implications for AS Monaco’s playoff aspirations. By eliminating Maccabi Tel-Aviv from realistic play-in contention, Paris has reduced the pressure on Monaco, who currently hold a 20-16 record. With Maccabi now at 18-18, only Dubai (19-17) remains as a potential threat to Monaco’s position, along with Red Star Belgrade and FC Barcelona in the playoff race.
