Miami Heat's 2026-27 roster gets a Giannis Antetokounmpo makeover

Giannis Antetokounmpo (2.11m) is now listed on the Miami Heat's roster for the 2026-2027 season, ending his run with the Milwaukee Bucks. Miami also adds two veterans who were on Milwaukee's 2025-2026 roster. Tim Hardaway Jr. (1.96m) arrives after averaging 13.6 points on 45.1% shooting and 41.3% from 3-point range across 76 games with the Bucks. Bobby Portis (2.08m) joins after a season of 13.2 points and 6.1 rebounds on 49.3% shooting over 67 games. Both give Miami's coaching staff experienced scoring depth to pair with the new frontcourt duo, even if neither replaces the playmaking Jaquez Jr. and Jakucionis took with them to Milwaukee.

Separately from the Antetokounmpo deal, Miami has also added Klay Thompson for 2026-2027. The move is not a trade: Thompson was bought out by the Dallas Mavericks and cleared waivers before signing with the Heat, according to NBA.com, in an article updated August 24, 2026, describing him as a "five-time NBA All-Star and 4-time champion" who signed with Miami "after a buyout in Dallas." ESPN reported on August 21 that Thompson's new deal with the Heat runs two years for close to $13 million, arriving only after his contract with the Mavericks was bought out and he passed through waivers. The move has no connection to the Antetokounmpo trade and was not part of the Bucks package.

Adebayo, Wiggins and the holdovers building around the new duo

Beyond Adebayo, several familiar names remain in Miami to absorb the transition.
