Jeremy Lin officially announced the end of his basketball career this Saturday on social media. At 37, the American of Taiwanese origin retires after a 15-year career marked by historic moments, notably during his legendary stint with the New York Knicks.

« Linsanity », a phenomenon that marked NBA history

Jeremy Lin’s Instagram announcement reflects the emotion behind his decision: « I’ve realized my wildest childhood dreams: playing in front of fans worldwide. I’ll forever remain the kid who felt most alive when touching a basketball. As athletes, we always know retirement is never far away. I spent my 15-year career knowing that one day I’d have to turn the page, yet saying goodbye to basketball today is the hardest decision of my life. »

The combo-guard made American basketball history during a memorable 11-game stretch in February 2012. During this period dubbed « Linsanity » by fans and media, Lin averaged exceptional stats with 23.9 points and 9.2 assists per game. The highlight of this stretch remains his 38-point performance against the Los Angeles Lakers and Kobe Bryant.

A rich NBA journey despite challenges

Jeremy Lin played in the NBA between 2010 and 2019, wearing the jerseys of eight different franchises. Over his NBA career, he posted respectable averages of 11.6 points and 4.3 assists per game. Capable of playing both point guard and shooting guard positions, he adapted to different game systems.

Despite an up-and-down career after the « Linsanity » explosion, Lin reached the ultimate achievement by winning the NBA title in 2019 with the Toronto Raptors. This championship ring crowns the unique career of a player who left his mark on global basketball history through his inspiring journey and memorable performances in the Knicks jersey.
