Adrien Moerman trains in Toulouges and stays patient about his career: « I would like to go abroad again »

Adrien Moerman, two-time EuroLeague champion, has returned to his base in Pyrénées-Orientales after his stint in Taiwan. While maintaining ambitions to play again at Europe's highest level, the former French international is taking his time and staying physically fit by training with Toulouges (NM3).

After his experience in Taiwan, Adrien Moerman (2.02 m, 37 years old) has settled back home in Toulouges, where he maintains his physical condition. The big man, who has played EuroLeague with prestigious clubs, remains open to new challenges abroad, even though he knows the path to another top opportunity is narrow.

A great experience in Taiwan

From his base in Pyrénées-Orientales (66), Moerman keeps excellent memories of his last adventure in Taiwan: « It was a very good experience. It’s a different culture from France or Europe. My wife, daughter and I really enjoyed it. If we could have stayed, we would have », he says. In 18 games with Taipei Taishin Mars, the three-time French champion (2007, 2014 and 2015) averaged 15.3 points on 44.9% shooting and 11.7 rebounds in less than 31 minutes.

Attracted by the cultural exposure these experiences outside Europe offer, he would like to continue down this path: « I want to go abroad again because I really enjoy it. You discover cultures, it was incredible to experience with such respectful people ».

Limoges had inquired

While waiting for an opportunity, Adrien Moerman continues training, particularly with the local team playing in National 3 (NM3). « I train in Toulouges in the morning, shoot in the evening, go running, do weight training and then train with them in the evening », he explains. This routine helps him stay ready in case a club calls.

Contacted according to him by Limoges, which he left 10 years ago, the Fontenay-aux-Roses native hasn’t pursued it for now: « I had Limoges interested in my return but I didn’t want to. Maybe later, at the end of my career. There, they expect a lot. I don’t have the same legs I had at 26. If you go to Limoges, you have to perform. They expect a lot. I understand them though. It’s a mythical, historic club. That’s normal. »

Still motivated

At 37, Moerman insists he hasn’t lost his drive: « I still have the motivation. When my body tells me to stop, I’ll stop. But as long as I have my legs, I’ll continue ». For now, he prefers to wait patiently for a club’s call: « It’s preseason everywhere. I’m doing mine at home and I’ll wait patiently ».
