Hugo Invernizzi happy to return to Limoges: « I’m excited to experience Beaublanc’s passion again »

Limoges CSP officially announced this Monday, September 15, the return of Hugo Invernizzi (1.98m, 32 years old). The Alsatian replaces Kenny Baptiste, who left the club, and explains in Le Populaire du Centre the reasons for this choice, his mindset, and the evolution of his game.
An anticipated return to Beaublanc
Hugo Invernizzi returns to a club where he previously spent three seasons between 2019 and 2022. The forward says he kept good memories of Beaublanc: « It’s an arena where I had great times. Playing with such passion changes everything. » After experiences in Italy, Lithuania, and then Strasbourg, he admits having gone through difficult periods but wasn’t worried about remaining clubless until mid-September. « When Limoges made their offer, I didn’t hesitate, » he specifies, adding that nobody needed to « sell him on Limoges. »
A different but complementary profile
Invernizzi believes his profile wasn’t a priority for many teams. « I’m not the typical power forward teams look for. In a team that doesn’t play collectively, I’m not very useful, » he explains. However, the player assures he has evolved since his time at Nanterre where he was very focused on outside shooting: he’s now less of a shooter, more of a facilitator, more team-oriented. This explains his lower statistics.
A clear mindset and anticipated reunions
While describing himself as sometimes grumpy, he emphasizes his willingness to contribute to the team. « I’m neither relieved nor seeking revenge, just happy. » Physically, he says he’s ready after participating in preseason with Mulhouse (NM1). Another important element: he’ll reunite with his friend Nicolas Lang, with whom he previously played at CSP. « Everyone knows about our friendship, » he states, hoping things will go as well as before.
A playing style that fits the project
The new Limoges coach, Dario Gjergja, known for emphasizing team play, perfectly matches the style the Alsatian player is looking for. « We don’t just play one-on-one. That suits me. » This should allow for quick integration of a player who wants to prove he still belongs at the highest French level.
