A convincing return for Theo Maledon

Entering the game with just over eight minutes before halftime, Theo Maledon took just moments to find his rhythm. Barely a minute after checking in, he delivered an assist for a Mario Hezonja three-pointer, before scoring his first points right after. Very active on both ends of the floor, the Norman made every minute count to impact the game.

The former Oklahoma City player finished 4/7 from the field and 7/7 from the free throw line. His composure late in the game proved valuable, particularly when he hit a corner three-pointer to give Real some breathing room as Partizan was mounting a comeback (84-80, 38th minute).

« It felt good to play in front of our fans, to feel their energy. I’m grateful for this moment. It was important to get back into rhythm and help the team, » the French point guard told EuroLeague TV.

Real Madrid confirms, Maledon launches his season

Thanks to a strong performance from Trey Lyles (17 points, 5 rebounds) and Facundo Campazzo’s late-game management, Real Madrid secured their third consecutive EuroLeague victory. But the evening’s pleasant surprise came from Theo Maledon, who already appears well-integrated into Sergio Scariolo’s systems.

« He’s coming back from injury, so we still need to manage his minutes, but he showed he could contribute right away, » explained the Italian coach after the game.

Real, solid for three quarters before struggling in the last one, will travel to Belgrade on Friday to face Red Star. As for Theo Maledon, he proved he could be a major asset in Madrid’s rotation, both as a creator and scorer.
