A complete profile who shined in BBL
Zac Seljaas comes to France after two solid seasons with Würzburg in the BBL. As team captain, he led his German team to two consecutive championship semi-finals (2024 and 2025), while also competing in the Basketball Champions League (BCL). In BCL, he faced Nanterre twice (27 points on 9/17 shooting and 9 rebounds at home on October 23, then 15 points on 6/11 and 6 rebounds in Hauts de Seine on November 6).
Before that, the forward who played at Brigham Young University (BYU) between 2015 and 2020, built his professional career across Europe. He started in Slovakia with Prievidza, before establishing himself as the top scorer for BC Vera Tbilisi in Georgia (22.1 points per game). In Germany, he broke out with Tigers Tübingen in the second division (16.9 points average in 2022-2023), contributing to the club’s promotion to the Bundesliga.
His outside shooting efficiency (87 three-pointers in the 2022-2023 season) and his versatile profile at positions 3-4 quickly drew attention. Also known for his charisma and unique hairstyle (a mullet that became iconic in Germany), he established himself as a true locker room leader.
A long-targeted player
According to our information, Paris Basketball had been in contact with the player at one point, without following through. ASVEL ultimately convinced him to take the next step by joining Betclic ELITE and EuroLeague. There, he should take over Andre Roberson’s role, who is expected to leave, sharing the 3/4 positions with Melvin Ajinça, David Lighty and even the 4/3 Mbaye Ndiaye, upon his return from injury.
The Lyon team’s perimeter is already well-stocked as Nando De Colo, Edwin Jackson, Adam Atamna, Melvin Ajinça (with an NBA clause), David Lighty and now Zac Seljaas are under contract. However, they still need two point guards and almost an entire interior sector.
