Yvann Mbaya will join JL Bourg to continue his development

Yvann Mbaya (6’10 », 23 years old), who had a strong season with Alliance Sport Alsace in Pro B, will continue his career at the higher level. JL Bourg, consistent with its strategy of developing young locally-trained players (JFL), has chosen to invest in the French center to strengthen its frontcourt next season.
JL Bourg continues its JFL recruitment with Yvann Mbaya
Having a solid season in Pro B (8.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.0 assist in 43 games), Yvann Mbaya contributed to ASA’s impressive campaign, which reached the promotion playoff finals this Thursday evening. His verticality and defensive impact made him a rising value in the championship.
Having come through Saint-Quentin’s youth academy and then Élan Chalon’s (2017 to 2021), Mbaya went on to play for Poitiers (NM1) and Le Portel, where he got his first taste of top-level basketball with minutes in Jeep Elite. However, due to limited playing time, he returned to Pro B. At Gries-Souffel with ASA, he established himself as a reliable and intimidating center.
JL Bourg continues its targeted recruitment of potential players from Pro B. After signing Assemian Moulare (Vichy) and Narcisse Ngoy (Rouen, loaned to Poitiers), the club continues to strengthen its JFL base, with a medium-term development strategy.
It remains to be seen how the Bourg coaching staff will structure their interior rotation. Kevin Kokila has extended until 2027, and Jean-Marc Pansa, who arrived in summer 2024, is also committed for two seasons. Mbaya could thus start in a rotation role, with the opportunity to establish himself in an environment conducive to development.
