Kezza Giffa commits to Ole Miss instead of USC

A turn of events for Kezza Giffa (6’0″, 22 years old)! The French point guard, coming off a historic season with High Point, will complete his college career at Ole Miss, not USC as announced last Friday.

Quick and scoring-minded, Kezza Giffa is coming off two strong seasons at High Point, with his last averaging 14.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists, highlighted by first March Madness qualification for High Point and a Big South conference title (29 wins, 6 losses). While his scoring decreased (16.2 points average in 2023-2024), his efficiency improved from 40% to 44% overall shooting. Convinced that his profile and performance could attract bigger programs, Giffa decided to test the NCAA transfer portal. The move paid off when on May 29, the prestigious USC program decided to bet on him for their rebuild, offering significant media exposure.

However, three days later, the young Frenchman posted a message on Instagram, since deleted, announcing « withdrawing from USC and reopening recruitment. […] The decision wasn’t easy to make, but I feel it’s the right one for me to find the right balance on and off the court. » The former Levallois prospect quickly convinced another school to take a chance on him: Giffa will wear the Ole Miss jersey for his senior season, his last before turning pro.
In one of the country’s best conferences, the Southeastern Conference (SEC), Sacha Giffa’s son will play under Chris Beard, a four-time conference coach of the year and two-time national coach of the year. Worth noting that Ole Miss has also shown interest in another French combo-guard, Ilias Kamardine (6’4″, 21 years old), earlier this year. It remains to be seen if the latter is eligible and if he would choose Ole Miss.
