After the departure of six players, including French Cup Final MVP Sara Chevaugeon to Charnay, Flammes Carolo is close to completing their roster for next season. The Charleville-Mézières club has announced their sixth and penultimate signing of the offseason, Elizabeth « Liz » Dixon (6’5″, 24 years old).

« A player I wanted already this season »

After playing college basketball at Louisville before discovering the WNBA with Phoenix and Connecticut, the American center played for Panathinaikos this season, where she made a significant impact in EuroCup (12.8 points and 10.5 rebounds). Her arrival greatly pleases her future coach, Romuald Yernaux: « She’s a player I’ve been following for two years and wanted already this season. She has a good basketball IQ, she’s tall, mobile and has a strong presence on the boards. She’s a player with good shooting ability and I really like her because she can play inside-out despite her height. »

Liz Dixon comes to strengthen a frontcourt formed by Maia Hirsch, Tiffany Clarke and recent recruit Tenin Magassa, alongside whom she should bring all her qualities in situations already envisioned by Coach Yernaux: « She’s not a heavy center who stays in the paint but a versatile profile, rather technical and who can play pick-and-roll. » Already experienced at high level and with strong potential, Flammes Carolo seems to be making a big move in the market. Especially since she has « no contractual obligations with the WNBA », and will therefore be available all season starting from the beginning, which was very important for the club.

Liz Dixon is the sixth recruit and ninth professional player of the club, which would like one more addition to « complete an ambitious and targeted summer transfer window. » The roster currently consists of Coline Franchelin and Lucile Jérôme at point guard; Noémie Brochant, Isabelle Strunc and Vaciana Gomis at positions 2-3-4; and Maia Hirsch, Tiffany Clarke, Tenin Magassa and now Elizabeth Dixon in the frontcourt.
