Amy Okonkwo (1.88m, 28 years old) will not be in France next season. Having played for Saint-Amand, Landerneau and Bourges, the Nigerian center has decided to take on a new challenge by joining Besiktas Istanbul. This is a notable loss for both Bourges and the Boulangère Wonderligue.

Amy Okonkwo heads to Turkey

Besiktas Istanbul continues its high-level recruitment. Following the signings of former Lattes player Samantha Whitcomb, Nikolina Milic and Mariella Fassoula, it’s now Amy Okonkwo’s turn to join the Istanbul club. The announcement was made this Thursday morning.

Having arrived in France in 2021, Okonkwo established herself as a reliable player in the championship. After gaining momentum at Landerneau and Saint-Amand, she confirmed all her potential this season at Bourges. Selected in the EuroLeague Third Team of the season, the 28-year-old player averaged over 15 points in Europe’s most prestigious competition.

Her versatility, offensive impact, and experience will be valuable assets for a Besiktas team that aims to play leading roles both in Turkey and Europe.
